APJeT, Inc., (Affiliated Plasma Jet Technologies) was founded and incorporated
in September 2000, by Dr. Gary S. Selwyn, the original inventor of the
technology.
APJeT executed an exclusive license with the University
of California on March 28, 2002, for all fields of use involving
the Atmospheric Pressure Plasma Jet (APPJ®)
technology. This license is now with Los Alamos National
Security, LLC (LANS), the current operator of Los Alamos
National Laboratory. The licensed APPJ technology is a broad-based,
platform technology consisting of several different apparatus
and methods patents on the use of different applications
and designs of plasma sources for generating and using a
low-temperature, highly reactive plasma for materials processing
applications. It is based on the pioneering work performed
at Los Alamos
National Laboratory between 1995 and 2002. Continued development
of the technology is ongoing in APJeT's corporate R&D labs
and at the corporate R&D lab of its strategic partner, Air
Products and Chemicals, Inc. and at Morrison Textile Machinery,
Inc.
The widespread benefits of plasmas in numerous industrial and medical applications have been known for many years, but they have been encumbered by the necessity to generate them in a vacuum environment. Apjet's focus is to develop commercial applications for this novel, atmospheric-pressure technology and to sell or lease systems suited for those applications. In certain, limited cases, the company will consider issuing sublicenses to other companies.
APJeT has been located in Santa Fe, New Mexico, since Jan.
1, 2003 and has executed sublicenses with its primary investor,
Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., (Allentown, PA) and Morrison
Textile Machinery, Inc. (Ft. Lawn, SC).
