Experience
Prior to joining APJeT, Dr. Selwyn was a staff member and principal investigator in the physics division at the Los Alamos National Laboratory. Prior to joining LANL, he worked for IBM, both at the Yorktown Heights, NY research facility and at the IBM development laboratory in East Fishkill, NY. That work involved plasma processing of materials; he also held a management position at IBM for 4 years and management positions at LANL for 8 years and has completed management training through IBM. Dr. Selwyn has run his own consulting business serving over 40 companies in the semiconductor industry for nearly 10 years.

Relevant Technical Experience/Accomplishments

• Discovered/identified particle generation and detection in plasma etch and sputter tools.

• Reknown expert in the physics and chemistry of small particles

• Inventor of the Atmospheric Pressure Plasma Jet technology (APPJ)

• Expert in optical diagnostic techniques for plasma processing of materials

• Consulted for numerous companies in the area of plasma etch, cvd, pvd tooling for the semiconductor and magnetic storage disk industries

• Project management at IBM and LANL, including responsibility for a $1.3M annual budget and oversight of technicians, engineers and Ph.D.s

Publications, Patents, and Presentations
Over 80 technical papers published. Over 65 invited presentations given. 17 U.S. patents issued or pending. Author of the American Vacuum Society course and monograph "Optical Diagnostic Techniques for Plasma Processing,". His research has been cited in Business Week, Semiconductor International, Solid State Technology, R & D, Electronics News, New Scientist, Physics World and Science Magazine, APS News, Discover, and National Research Council Report on Plasma Science (1995).

Awards, Honors, and Memberships
Outstanding Technical Achievement Award, IBM; Two IBM Invention Achievement Awards; Two R&D 100 Awards (1996 & 1999); LANL Distinguished Performance Award; LANL distinguished patent awards (2000, 2001), Served on a National Research Council Naval Studies Board plasma processing panel; Co-Chairman, NATO Advanced Research Workshop Conference on Particles in Plasma Processes, Toulouse, France. He has also served on a National Research Council Panel evaluating NIST.
