Plasma surface activation increases the surface energy, improving wettability and increasing the bond strength of printed inks. Ink adheres better, lasts longer, and resists smudges. Plasma treatment also allows for the transition from solvent-based to water-based inks.

APJeT’s Plasma Systems integrate easily into existing lines and operate at low temperatures, preventing operator burns and melting of substrates during line stops.

Plasma Treatment of HDPE (high density polyethylene)

High density polyethylene is a very stable material, making it ideal for many products and applications. This same stability makes it very difficult to print, coat, or paint without plasma surface activation. Treating HDPE materials with plasma increases the adherence of coatings and printed inks allowing them to spread more uniformly, last longer, and resist smudges. Plasma treatment also allows for the transition from solvent-based to water-based inks, coatings, and paints.
